Petronas Twin Towers, KL, Malaysia 2012

Petronas
Nothing much changed about the Petronas Twin Towers since I first visited it a few years ago. But around it, the topography changed some-what a lot. Now by paying a small fee, a visitor can go up to the TOP and feel the beauty of the skies!!!!!!!

This year, with in a month, I had an opportunity to visit the place twice. Once I went up to the top around 11 a.m and the second time, the last ride of the day, 8.30 pm. I thought I can spend a lot of time gazing at the marvelous steel structure gleaming in day-light and ALSO in the night with well planned electric lights.

When I first planned to visit in April, I was told about the tickets but I couldn't get much of information from anybody. So, with no second thoughts, I woke up my aunt and uncle early morning, got them into a cab and just posted myself in front of the office tower's door.

We found three ladies and a guy in the Q at the main door. Later we came to know that they were all travel agents or the agents' staff. They que up for tickets for their patrons. Each travel agent is eligible to get up to 10 tickets. Individuals can get up to 5 tickets.

Here we found out that some individuals are buying and selling tickets for a profit of RM10-RM15 depending on the time of the entrance - peak and off-peak.

When I visited the second time with 10 family members, we decided to take up one of the agents' service and got the tickets without quing up.

The management renovated the entire ticketing place and added a gift shop too! Its quite spacious and lighted.

Now tickets are available online.

Petronas Twin Towers, KL, Malaysia-2008

My first time trip to KL (not touch and go which I did many a times before) Malaysia in May 08 with my daughter was very exciting and I just loved the place and amazed to see the mega structure - Petronas Twin Towers.

We read on internet earlier that free passes are available to visit the bridge between the two towers. We wanted to try our luck. We got up as early as 5 am, grabbed the first served breakfast and rushed out of the hotel still breakfast in our mouths! As we got into the taxi, the driver comforted us saying we may be very early and just need to relax. God bless him. We relaxed and looked around at the early morning light reflecting on the cranes in the new construction sites. We were told that since the 'twin towers' became like a legend, the craziness to build 'twin' buildings has caught up and a few building are coming up though not so huge and mighty.

Here is the part which really made me write this particular post. We got down and saw a few armed police cautiously eyeing the visitors but not at all disturbing. We saw a few staff running arrands and a few people looking dazed and confused walking around. Leaving the first and the last categories, I approached the staff to guide me to the spot where the passes or tickets are given to go on to the bridge.

The lady simply asked me to go in and assured me that I will see right away what I am looking for. Great!! We rushed in to a huge empty shopping mall echoing our footsteps. We found a few more confused people walking aimless peeping into all nuke and corners. This story is almost 30 mnts long and at the end of which I almost went crazy with my daughter's questions and the 'staff's directions. After a few mnts I realised that all they are doing is pointing towards their right no matter where they stand!!!

OK now, I will end my frustrating, time consuming, self pitty story here and give you clear directions as to how to get to what you really want - Free Admission Tickets to Skybridge of Petronas Twin Towers, KL, Malaysia!

I will guide you with some pictures and descriptions. Rest, you play Sherlock Holmes.

First find this huge building. If you are taking a cab, ask the cab driver to drop you at Petronas Twin Towers opposite to Public Bank.

You will see an excellently maintained water feature on the Petronas Twin Tower grounds.

Enter Petronas Towers through these doors.

Look for this chandelier just inside the entrance when you enter the building.

You will enter into this huge hall.

Turn to your left. You will face the office building entrance ofcourse into which a tourist is not allowed. See the girl in the picuture tying lace? Behind her is the secret entrance to the place to get the entrance tickets. Just for your information, even at this place you don't see any notice or information to tell you that this IS the place to get the free passes!

See the escalator? Take it down to Basement1 to get to the counters. We took the pictures after we finished the advanture and are heading home. So, you see my daughter on the going up escalator.

The ticket counter is beside the escalator. The banner reads - Petronas Twin Tower Skybridge Visit.

Here starts your long journey to get to see magnificent view of Malaysia and an experience of lifetime.

Important information:- Skybridge visit is open Tuesday to Sunday. Monday will be open only during school holidays - half a day  or if it is a public holiday.
